Effective learning and English immersion
Colegio Internacional de Valladolid aims to provide children with educational experiences that develop a positive approach to learning. We create a learning environment that is enhanced by the fact that children feel at home at school.
We strive to help children harness their natural curiosity and transform it into learning. We encourage critical thinking so they move from asking “what if…” to “let’s find out!” Our students observe and ask questions with intrigue and enthusiasm. We nurture their skills so they develop their understanding of the world around them in a safe environment and gain the confidence to take their own actions.
Our project is a student-centered learning program. Children explore, play, and learn without even realizing it. Small class sizes, a large teaching team with extensive international experience, and our dedicated support staff ensure that each of our students receives the attention they need at this important stage.
At our school, the Early Years stage covers ages 1 to 5:
Toddlers
From 1 to 2 years
Pre-Nursery
From 2 to 3 years
Nursery
From 3 to 4 years
Reception
4 to 5 years
We know your little one is your greatest treasure and we’ll make sure they get the best!

Every child is unique, as the most important principle
Everyone learns in different ways and gains confidence through positive relationships. They can be resilient, capable, and self-confident if they have an environment that allows them to discover the world in different ways.
True English immersion
From a student’s first day at our school, English becomes the primary language of instruction. Our pedagogical approach is designed to ensure progressive and personalized learning and is divided into core and specialized areas.

Our Methodology
Early childhood students follow the English National Curriculum and are guided by an experienced, caring, and qualified team.
The Early Years Foundation Stage has seven learning areas. All of them are equally important and interconnected.
There are three main areas in the EYFS, which are:

Personal, social and emotional development

Physical development

Communication and language
And four specific areas , which are:

Spanish language
Spanish is taught through the EYFS (Educational Development Program) following the guidelines of the Spanish Ministry of Education. Lessons are planned using a practical approach, as teachers do with the British Curriculum. This allows children to be creative, have fun, and learn through experience, rather than following traditional approaches.
How they learn
Our students learn through fun, exploration, creation, activity, and critical thinking both inside and outside the school. We are fortunate to have a large green area.
“If a child is happy when learning, that learning will last a lifetime” – Miss Elizabeth

Open environments
We know that the environment plays a key role in children’s development. Our classrooms are spacious, bright, and welcoming. The classrooms are designed to encompass different areas that stimulate and maximize children’s learning, with children spending part of their day in outdoor areas as an extension of the classroom.
Emotional well-being
The emotional well-being of our students is of vital importance, especially for children who begin their schooling at our school. Our priority is to ensure they enjoy their childhood and feel safe so that learning can occur naturally.
A focus on developing strong social skills is at the heart of our Early Years curriculum. In this way, we ensure the foundation for children to become socially responsible citizens capable of achieving success throughout their lives. As a teaching team at CIV, we dedicate a significant amount of time to caring and nurturing our youngest students in managing their emotions, helping them learn to resolve their differences amicably.
To achieve our educational goals, children enjoy a wide variety of trips to the theater, museums, farms, and many other places that allow them to expand their knowledge of the world around them.
