School Nursing in Valladolid
The health and wellbeing of our pupils are fundamental to ensuring a safe, supportive and high-quality learning environment. Throughout the 2025-2026 academic year, the School Nursing Service at Colegio Internacional de Valladolid has played a vital role in providing healthcare, promoting prevention, and delivering health education across the entire school community.
Over 1,500 Interventions Supporting Our Pupils
Between September 2025 and May 2026, the School Nursing team carried out a total of 1,548 interventions, with an average consultation time of 16.43 minutes. During this period, 247 pupils received medical attention, meaning that almost 69% of our students required some form of healthcare support during the academic year.
One particularly significant achievement is that none of these interventions required referral to an external medical centre, demonstrating the team’s ability to manage and resolve health issues effectively within the school setting.
Interventions were recorded consistently throughout the academic year, with March being the busiest month, accounting for 241 interventions, followed by May with 198 and November with 192.
Most interventions took place in Early Years and Primary, where minor accidents and everyday incidents are naturally more common.

Health Education: Encouraging Healthy Habits from an Early Age
In addition to providing clinical care, the School Nursing Service plays an important preventive and educational role. During the academic year, 24 Health Education workshops were delivered, with an average duration of 78 minutes per session. A total of 492 pupils took part in these educational activities, and all 17 classes across the school attended at least one workshop, achieving 100% participation.
The topics covered included:
- First Aid: 17 workshops delivered to 261 pupils.
- Hand Hygiene and Infection Prevention: 5 workshops reaching 492 pupils.
- Personal Hygiene: 1 workshop for 27 pupils.
- Oral Hygiene and Dental Health: 1 workshop for 13 pupils.
These sessions help pupils develop essential knowledge and healthy habits that will benefit them throughout their lives, encouraging personal responsibility and self-care from an early age.
A Service That Supports Educational Success
Having a dedicated School Nursing Service provides reassurance for both families and staff. The presence of qualified healthcare professionals on site enables prompt responses to medical incidents, personalised follow-up where required, and the promotion of healthy lifestyles that have a direct positive impact on pupils’ wellbeing and academic performance.
The work carried out throughout this academic year clearly demonstrates that school nursing extends far beyond responding to accidents or illness. It is a comprehensive service that combines healthcare, prevention, education and ongoing support, helping to create a safer, healthier and more responsive learning environment for the entire school community.
At Colegio Internacional de Valladolid, we remain committed to an educational approach that places every child at the heart of everything we do. Because learning and growing also means doing so in an environment where health, safety and wellbeing are part of everyday school life.
